Janine M. Becker

Janine M. Becker is an experienced attorney licensed to practice in the State Courts and Federal Court of Connecticut, including the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District Court of Connecticut. She has been engaged in the general practice of law in Connecticut since 1991, in the areas of real estate, landlord/tenant law, estate planning, business planning, bankruptcy, foreclosures, accident cases, and work-related injuries. Her experience includes conducting jury trials, court-side trials, and arguing before the appellate court. She also appears before the workers' compensation commission, in probate court, and in bankruptcy courts to protect her clients' interests. Janine Becker has been leading the Law Office of Becker & Zowine, LLC for over twenty years.

Attorney Becker is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, and the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association, where she served as a Board Member and as a Past President. She is the chair of the GBBA Foreclosure and Solo/Small Firm Committees. In addition, she is involved in volunteer work for Connecticut Legal Services, Lawyers in Libraries, and the Court Foreclosure Volunteer Attorneys. In 2011, she was the recipient of the CBA Pro Bono for battling an illegal lockout case.

Janine Becker is also active in her community, volunteering for Food Rescue US, the Bridgeport School mentoring program, and having been a former Girl Scout leader and a religious education instructor. She is currently the Chair of the Town of Trumbull Fair Rent Commission. She holds a Juris Doctorate from Pace University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Economics from the State University of New York at Binghamton.

Janine Becker served as counsel on significant cases such as Monetary Funding v. Pluchino, 87 Conn. App. 401 (2005); U.S. Bank National Assoc v. Works, 160 Conn. App. 49 (2015); and Bank Of New York Mellon v. Mazzeo, 195 Conn. App. 357 (2020), among others. She has been selected for Super Lawyers for 2011-2012, 2019-2020, and 2022-2023. When not working, Janine can be found spending time with her husband and family enjoying the mountains in Southern Vermont, the beaches of Rhode Island, and golfing at Tashua Knolls.
